After a summer of looking at the Euro based Hip Hop scene we swing back over to North American soil and visit the city of Toronto. Now going onto it’s 6th yr the Manifesto Festival has been providing an amazing platform to showcase the incredible talents of the city via the arts. Through music, film, poetry and more the urban expressive pulse of the city has been beating strong though the works of the Manifesto Organization. This year the weekend of Sept 21th – 23rd will be overflowing with performances, exhibits, food and pure creative energy as some of the best in Hip Hop descend on the city for what will a very memorable time.

Yesterday my twitter feeds were full of commentary on the Maybach Music Group press conference that was held yesterday afternoon. From the perspective of marketing, promotion and branding it was a perfectly orchestrated event to highlight the roster and their upcoming moves. Super producer Swizz Beats made an appearance to speak on Reebok’s new “Big & Tall” line which Rick Ross, already a Reebok sneaker endorser, will feature in. Puffy followed up with some passionate words regarding the evolution of his relationship with Ross. Following this the MMG team would respectively inform media and the audience viewing via live stream of their upcoming album release dates. To put a cap on things and to our surprise Ross would introduce us to MMG’s newest member “Maybach O” bka Omarion of pop group B2K fame.

Off her The Light of the Sun album Jill shares her joy with the people with this soulful cut. Combing the streets, her home and a few studio “guests” the video for “Blessed” is a perfect representation for this uplighting song.

With the NBA Playoffs right around the corner, Nike Basketball is unveiling their “Elite” Playoff Series of sneakers for their breadwinners Kobe Bryant and LeBron James. Both players get a special Elite series colorway in Black / Gold for away games and White / Gold for their home games. While both models have the same design, new materials have been added to the current build, including: updated Flywire made with Kevlar aramid, carbon fiber midffot support shanks that extend from the heel to the wings, and Nike Pro Combat inspired padded collar protection. Look for these to release later this Spring.
