I am not sure how this collaboration came about, but I am really glad it did. 1999 WRITE THE FUTURE. Which according to a press release from yesterday, is a new music collective and multimedia experience that RCA Records and 88rising have teamed up in presenting.
The new collective teaming up with BADBADNOTGOOD, Westside Gunn and Conway the Machine for the release of their first single, MiNt cHoCoLaTe. A very futuristic and solid production that finds Gunn and Conway delivering some really solid verses for their first ever collaboration with the Toronto jazz outfit. That is definitely among the better Hip-Hop tracks or just music released period here in 2023.
The single also getting a very playful and somewhat entertainingly hilarious video. That is set at an elementary school talent show in the California suburbs and sees the band’s leader and flutist Ryan and his band The Destroyers, as they practice and get ready to take the stage. Dreaming of themselves as kids performing the single with WSG & Conway’s vocals being performed to widespread acclaim.
