Jhené Aiko Announces New Headlining, The Magic Hour Tour

Very beautifully talented Los Angeles singer and songwriter, Jhené Aiko, recently revealed the cover and tracklisting for her highly-anticipated third solo album, CHILOMBO.  As well as the March 6th release date for the album along with the following press release, “CHILOMBO, proclaims the artist’s full name, Jhené Aiko Efuru Chilombo, as it celebrates her coming into her own personal power. The initial jam sessions where she freestyled the lyrics to each song, took place on The Big Island of Hawaii where Jhené’s great grandmother was born.  Jhené was inspired by the beauty and power of the island’s volcanoes, having visited throughout the years.  Chilombo means wild beast.  The volcano is symbolic of the beautiful, yet powerful beast.  Jhené Aiko is Chilombo.  In contrast to her 2017 album, Trip, which intricately detailed the process of grieving, CHILOMBO finds Jhené embracing her strength and power, and coming into her confidence as a woman, a creator and a healer.  She has always embraced magic in her particular brand of soulful, trippy, ethereal R&B, but now on CHILOMBO she has taken it all to another level.

For years, Jhené has been studying the practice of sound healing.  With CHILOMBO, she has incorporated crystal alchemy singing bowls on every track.  This form of sound healing has been found to be both physically and mentally healing on the cellular level.  Jhené describes CHILOMBO as a “time lapse of an unassuming volcano erupting gracefully with it’s lava flowing freely… settling and creating new land and new life” 🌋

While not only is there the recent news of her album, but 2020 appears to be yet another big year on the horizon for Jhené.  As she also announced earlier today in support of the highly-anticipated new album, a new headlining tour, The Magic Hour Tour.  The Spring headling tour set to start in Boston, MA on May 1st and end at the start of Summer on June 25th in Charlotte, N.C.  The 33-date North American trek, which will also have support from Queen Naija and Ann Marie.  Will see Jhené hit such huge markets as her hometown of Los Angeles on multiple dates, New York, Chicago, Washington, Atlanta, Detroit, Philadelphia and Toronto to name a few.  Full dates with more info can be seen on the flyer below.
