The legendary The Roots crew return with their first new single since 2017 and they haven’t lost a step. Which The Roots released earlier today and has Black Thought sounding as lyrically sharp as ever and showing why he’s been one of the best emcees and lyricists in Hip-Hop for so long on the very upbeat new record. This is the first release from The Roots off their sure to be highly-anticipated and long-awaited next album tentatively titled, End Game, which is scheduled for next year. It will be their first album since 2014’s, …And Then You Shoot Your Cousin. Their first album in six years, it doesn’t mean the group hasn’t been busy. As members lead members Black Thought and ?uestlove co-executive produced AMC’s recent mini docuseries Hip Hop: The Songs That Shook America and ?uestlove also currently making his directorial debut by working on a feature documentary about Black Woodstock. While Black Thought also released his first solo endeavors with two solo EP’s, Streams of Thought, Vol. 1 and 2 in 2018.
