Freddie Gibbs & Madlib teamed up back in 2014 for their collaborative debut album, Piñata, and now nearly five years later the duo is back with the news that they’re releasing a collaborative sophomore followup album entitled, Bandana. Which the rapper and producer announced today will come out on Keep Cool/RCA Records with whom they signed a deal with to release the album. This is big news too since the first album came out independently on Madlib’s own Madlib Invazion. Along with the news comes the release of the first single, Flat Tummy Tea.
Which finds Gibbs over a very Vaudevillesque beat from Madlib giving his always raw raps about a travesty of sorts he has dealt with in America and is the perfect backdrop for his switched up webbed-flow midway through the very raw new track. Showing the very great chemistry the two still have as a duo and which will probably make your anticipation for their new album, which was already high grow that much higher after hearing this very dope new single from the two. In much the same way it did for me.
