Legendary emcee, Big Boi, continues to show why he’s so in demand at festivals and a big draw here in Chicago. As he will be opening his upcoming Daddy Fat Saxxx Tour, Sack 1 here in Chicago at the upcoming North Coast Music Festival in Union Park on Saturday Sept. 2nd.
A year after playing Lollapalooza as part of his experimental super group, Big Grams, with Phantogram and just four years after playing Lolla, as part of the Outkast reunion tour at the time, the Atlanta emcee will return to Chicago to play solo, in support of his earlier this Summer released, latest solo album, Boomiverse. As arguably the most anticipated performer playing all that Labor Day weekend in Chicago’s Union Park neighborhood, Daddy Fat Saxxx is sure to show why he lives up to his own self-proclaimed statement of being a ,”Festival Killer.”
Other than legendary Reggae star, Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley and Chicago’s very own, The Cool Kids, there without a doubt isn’t any other performer who is more anticipated the whole weekend for NCMF and Chicago’s, “Summer’s Last Stand.” So it will be interesting to see if Big Boi has any tricks up his sleeve for his highly-anticipated performance too.
I’ve attended several solo performances over the years from Big Boi and the other two times, as one half part of their legendary group, Outkast with his fellow legendary partner in rhyme, Andre 3000 and also as part of his experimental super group with Phantogram, Big Grams. Every single one of those times I’ve seen him perform, he has always put on one entertaining show, that more times than not, end up being one of the best live performances I have seen. So if you get a chance in a few weeks and you have never seen him live before, you should really make an attempt to see Big Boi at Union Park for North Coast. You will definitely not only have one of the best times of your life, but probably have some real fun inspirational good vibes afterwards as well.
