Today nearly a week and a half after releasing late great emcee Phife Dawg’s very amazing posthumously released solo album, Forever. His Estate has released the latest new video from the album. For the title and closing track of the album.
The very nostalgic and Tony Reames-directed video premiered this morning through VIBE. Finding a display of Phife’s own handwritten lyrics for Forever in the forefront, as archival footage and snapshots of Phife’s journey. Play throughout the new visual. Helping bring Phife’s very personal and bittersweet lyrics on the DJ Rasta Root, V.Rich and Nottz co-produced track. Truly to life.
Reames having the following to say in a statement to VIBE. About how he put the video for, Forever together. “When I first heard ‘Forever’, I was not prepared for the depth and honesty. It took me a long time to let it all sink in. DJ Rasta Root came up with the idea of personal photos and videos to match the message for the video. I am not sure if it has been mentioned but the lyrics are all in Phife’s own handwriting. We scanned in a lot of his writings to create a font as if Phife himself was telling you the story. I’m forever grateful to be around Phife, his family and everyone we met along the way.”
