Common & John Legend Give Historic “Glory” Performance, Then Win Best Original Song, At The Oscars

All glory to Common and John Legend on what was another glorious moment for the two at this Sunday’s Oscars.  As nearly a month and a half after winning the Golden Globe for Best Original Song, for their glorious song, “Glory,” their contribution to the civil rights movie, Selma, the two won once again for the same category.

It was a historic moment for both, Lonnie and John, who ironically or not so ironically enough, won the award, after their moving and very powerfully emotional performance of the song at the 87th Academy Awards.  The Dolby Theater was the sight of the G.O.O.D. Music alums powerful performance of the song and just as powerful acceptance speech from both.

I love how both used their platform for such inspiring acceptance speeches to touch on things still going on today, that many in the spotlight don’t want to touch on such as race inequality, voter’s rights and the struggle for justice among many things.  Both the performance and speeches can be seen below.
