Kansas officials said Wednesday the state will obey a federal judge’s order to immediately fund Planned Parenthood clinics while the state pursues an appeal.

The state is appealing a decision that blocked enforcement of a new statute stripping it all of all federal funding for non-abortion services.

“The State of Kansas intends to immediately comply with the order of the court,” the Kansas Department of Health and Environment said in a statement Wednesday. “At the same time, the State will continue to pursue reversal of this order on appeal.”

According to the Smoking Gun Jennifer LaPenta, 19, was jailed Monday after a judge was offended by the t-shirt she wore to a friend’s court hearingwhich stated ”I Have The Pussy, So I Make The Rules,”.

The judge Helen Rozenberg, 56, summoned LaPenta from her seat,  cited her for contempt of court. and then immediately sentenced LaPenta to 48 hours in jail, and had her arrested.  I tell you about the justice system.

Cameras will be allowed in the court room during the Proposition 8 hearing on gay marriage. The decision was made by U.S. District Court Judge Vaughn Walker. There will be no live broadcast, but the proceedings will be taped and then posted on YouTube.com a few hours later.

It is not known if this decision was the reason Hak-Shing WIlliam Tam asked to be removed from the lawsuit. Tam was one of five people who formally intervened to defend the state from a federal lawsuit.
