Westcoast Legends MC Eiht & WC, Represent Like This On New Single with DJ Premier, Eiht Announces New Album, Which Way Iz West

After a long hiatus, which really wasn’t that long, Westcoast pioneer and legend MC Eiht returns with his banging new Brenk Sinatra-produced single, Represent Like This, which features fellow Westcoast pioneer, WC and another Hip-Hop legend, DJ Premier.

First emerging onto the scene in 1990 with seminal Gangsta Rap group, Compton’s Most Wanted on their seminal debut, It’s A Compton Thang, Eiht has been one of the most distinguished voices in Hip-Hop for well over two decades.  The Compton emcee and originator contributed many universally hailed Gangsta Rap classics over the years.  From 1992’s Music To Driveby, which was released just months after the LA Riots, to its followup, We Come Strapped and his contributions to soundtracks for such classic films as Boyz N The Hood and Menace 2 Society with such chilling tracks as, Growin’ Up In The Hood and the very memorable Streight Up Menace.  Also giving a star turning role as A-Wax in the later movie, Eiht’s contributions as a pioneer have been plenty.

Now after still staying active over the years with contributions to such critically-acclaimed albums, as fellow Compton emcees Kendrick Lamar’s Good Kid, m.A.A.d. City and DJ Quik & problem’s just earlier this month released collabo album,Rosecrans (which officially ended his vicious feud with Quik) and his own Keep It Hood EP in 2013, Eiht is ready to release his first solo album in a decade, Which Way Is West.

The new album, which has been four years in the making, is the long-awaited and much talked about album, Premier was set to executive produce for Eiht, finally coming to frutation with a June 9, 2017 release date.  Preemo also produced four tracks on the album (with Eiht’s longtime collaborater Sinatra producing the rest of the album), which features a star-studded guest list of Lady Of Rage, WC, Kurupt, B-Real, Xzibit, MayLAy, Big Mike, The Outlawz, Bumpy Kuckles (AKA Freddie Foxxx) and of course his old crew Compton’s Most Wanted.

With tomorrow marking the 25th anniversary of the start of the L.A. Riots, it’s only right with how much his music played a part in showing the anger, angst and languish the city went through at the time, that today Eiht announces his newest album release and releases its first single, through an exclusive premiere with HipHopDX.

Having the following to say in a statement about the new single, “I decided to release the Dub C track first as an ode to true west coast music and because Dub is a true west coast originator.  I wanted to give fans a familiar taste of what we’re about and due to Crazy Toones passing away, it just seemed like the appreciate way to honor my cuzzins as they were one of the first artists I had the honor of rocking with early in my career.  This is for the west coast and our heritage and it was only right to Represent Like This.”
