With Steady Decline In Sales, Alicia Keys, Here, Debuts At No. 2 On Billboard 200

You know the sales for albums is in a steady decline when one of the biggest artists there is Alicia Keys debuts here latest solo album, Here, at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart with only 50,000 units and only 42,000 in traditional album sales.

Marking Keys’ seventh top 10 album and her seventh straight top 2 effort.  With all of her other albums except this one and 2009’s The Element of Freedom, hitting No. 1 on the charts.

You know sales are in decline all across the board though when she sold 159,000 units in first-week sales on her last album, Girl on Fire, in 2012 and before that she was used to selling upwards of at the very least 236,000 units in first-week sales for her least commercially successful album in terms of first-week sales with her debut album, Songs in A Minor, in 2001.

It will definitely be interesting to see how Alicia and many other artists find ways to sell the albums in the future with such a steady decline in actual physical albums sales of CD’s.
