Music Artist Turns To Fan For Support & Funds

As the entertainment landscape changes, the constant challenge for many artists is to remain in touch with a creative center while attempting to meet the needs of a very fickle mainstream audience. Further complicating the issue is the fact that much of the funding needed for effective support is tied to the major labels of the music industry, who clearly aren’t concerned with creative integrity. What is an artist to do??? Well, NYC based MC Nitty Scott is taking it straight to the people to fund the next stage of her work. After releasing her debut EP, The Boombox Diaries Vol. 1, Ms Scott is now looking to deliver visuals for her standout track “Flower Child”. Utilizing the growing crowdfunding entity Kickstarter, Nitty Scott plans on raising $5000 for the video and giving back along the way.

So, the question is, how do you feel about paying into the continued activity of your favorite artist beyond merely buying music and merchandise? Is it asking too much of a fan or is it the next level of connection to your favorite MC, Singer,Etc…..
