Spring just starting and Summer, as well as festival season right around the corner, one of the biggest festivals of the whole summer, Lollapalooza has announced its jam-packed four-day lineup for the festival.
Just as expected recent three-time Grammy Award winning hometown hero, Chance the Rapper will be among the main headliners for the festival, which takes place in Grant Park in his hometown of Chicago from Thursday Aug. 3rd-Sunday Aug.6th, 2017.
It’s only appropriate that after playing two of the smaller stages in his previous Lolla appearances, that now in his third time playing the festival and coming off his biggest year of his career, he is one of the festivals main headliners. It seems quite appropriate it comes after a 25th Anniversary of the festival in which he wasn’t on the official lineup, but actually appeared as a surprise performer for half of the festivals four days in 2016.
Now Chance will actually not only be on the lineup, but one of the headliners for the first time of his what will now be three official Lolla appearances. Like they say the third time is the charm and with the hometown hero headlining Saturday’s portion of the four days that’s definitely the case here.
Joining Chance as another main headliner for what is a very well represented lineup of current Hip-Hop hitmakers is Detroit emcee and fellow Midwesterner, Big Sean. Who is coming off one of the biggest releases of his career with his recently chart-topping album, I Decided, which was released earlier this year to mostly critical-acclaim and is also enjoying the success of his self-titled collaboration EP, TWENTY88 with his current girlfriend and Lolla alum, Jhené Aiko. Which they also released to mostly critical acclaim last year.
Sean will be headlining on Sunday for the final day of the fest, which only seems appropriate since the G.O.O.D. Music rep, just almost a full three months into the new year has already had one of the biggest years by any artist of 2017, thus far. With a followup to their debut TWENTY88 project expected either later this year or next year too, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Jhené join Sean at some point as a surprise guest he may bring on.
Run the Jewels, Wiz Khalifa, Joey Bada$$, Jidenna and 21 Savage are among some eye-popping names that also will appear on a not to bad Hip-Hop portion of the lineup too for the festival’s 13th time here in mine and Chance’s hometown of Chicago. The full lineup, which also includes such great and/or legendary acts as blink-182, The Killers, Arcade Fire and Cage The Elephant as headliners as well, can be seen above.
