Very amazingly talented U.K. singer and songwriter, Jorja Smith, is ready to fight for social justice, by any means on her newest just released Ezrah-produced single. Appropriately titled, By Any Means. The new record finds Smith singing about how she can bring more social awareness to others through both song and action. As well as how to better bring social justice to all beyond just a hashtag and social media posts. Smith showing once again when it comes to records that show and reflect the crazy times we are in. She’s among the best to perfectly reflect it through song.
The very amazing new song is also the first single from, Reprise. Which according to a press release, is a new soon to be released Roc Nation compilation of socially-justice themed tracks curated by the label. In which the proceeds from it will go to funding organizations that assist victims of police brutality, hate crimes, and different violations of civil rights. Smith herself saying the track was directly inspired by the resurgence of the Black Lives Matter movement.
“[It] really came from going to the Black Lives Matter protest and leaving thinking, what can I do to keep this conversation going? It’s not just a post on social media, its life,” she said.
The press release additionally notes that, Reprise, was compiled with the intent to convey consciousness to social justice points and proceeds. Charity companions for the mission are: the Gathering for Justice, NACDL Foundation for Criminal Justice, Equal Justice Initiative Mission, and the Cop Accountability Project.
