The holiday season apparently brings out the worst in delivery personnel. Almost exactly a year since a FedEx delivery mantossed a computer monitor over a fence — possibly irritated at the sheer number of deliveries he had to make — a possible “partner in crime,” a UPS delivery man, did something even more heinous.

A UPS delivery man did more than make a delivery; he stole something at the same time. Optimization, of course. Fortunately, customer Al Alverson had a lot of tools at his disposal, and a lot of urgency, too, with Christmas coming. With all that, he was able to get the stolen item, an iPad mini, back by Thursday afternoon.

The iPhone 5 is tough to build. When have we heard that before?

The Wall Street Journal spoke with an unnamed Hon Hai executive on Wednesday about the iPhone 5′s supply issues, and he reportedly blamed the issues on the iPhone 5′s complex design, assembly, and QC process.

Hon Hai is the parent company of Foxconn, Apple‘s largest manufacturing partner.

The executive said, “The iPhone 5 is the most difficult device that Foxconn has ever assembled. To make it light and thin, the design is very complicated. It takes time to learn how to make this new device. Practice makes perfect. Our productivity has been improving day by day.”

As previously reported Apple has won it’s patent infringement case against Samsung to the tune of $1 Billion dollars.  What was NOT clearly stated is the  method of payment for that $1 Billion dollar ruling, and that caused the internet to go crazy after reports of Samsung’s “eclectic” choice of payment method.

Earlier today Zurmat.com reported that 30 trucks pulled up to Apple headquarters, with the guards clearly thinking it was a mistake. But in fact it wasn’t, inside the trucks were $1 Billion worth of Nickels.

It looks like the nation’s fourth largest carrier will continue to bleed subscribers in 2013. T-Mobile is preparing its employees with sales material to help them battle the iPhone monolith, something we wouldn’t expect them to do if they were about to get the iPhone 5.

The only one of the Big Four wireless carriers sans iPhone, the troubled company continues to see subscribers bolt for greener (iPhone-laden) pastures.

The leaked memos, first seen Monday, discuss a mobile game designed to help employees practice their sales skills, and a Grab & Go suite available through the company’s electronic learning system. However, the most significant thing is the date.

Samsung has released a statement pertaining to Apple’s “victory” in court today…

Unless you’ve been living under a mountain, you know all about the Apple vs Samsung patent trial that’s been going on in the US and abroad. And while Samsung basically walked out with a victory in its hometown of Korea against Apple(iPhone 4 and iPad 2 banned as well as some Samsung devices but Samsung can easily remedy with a simple work around. Apple cannot), Apple had the FULL HOMETOWN ADVANTAGE here in the US. From the beginning, the vast majority had painted Samsung as the criminal and Apple as the innocent victim. And it worked. Royally. While Apple was found NOT to infringe on any of Samsung’s patents, Samsung was found guilty on almost all accounts and ordered to pay a hefty billion dollar fine(Not so hefty to a heavy weight like Samsung though). Here’s what Apple won in court today:

The latest iPhone 5 rumor is out, and it’s a doozy. iMore is reporting that the iPhone 5 and iPad mini will be “introduced” on Wednesday, September 12, with the iPhone 5 being released to retail nine days later, on Friday, September 21.

The information, the site says, comes from a previously reliable source.

It’s unclear when the iPad mini will hit retail, although it could be the same day as the iPhone 5. Additionally, a new iPod nano will be launched on September 12; its release date is similarly unverified.

If you have been wondering why Apple integrated Twitter into iOS before Facebook (which will come in iOS 6, by the way), this could explain it: while not currently in negotiation, the two companies have talked about Apple taking a stake in Twitter before.

The timing of those talks depends on the source you trust. According to the New York Times, it was “in recent months.” The Wall Street Journal, on the other hand, says the talks took place over a year ago.

When it introduced iOS 6, Apple said that when the new version of its mobile platform ships, FaceTime, its video calling feature, will no longer be restricted to wi-fi. One thing that Apple didn’t say was whether or not anyone would charge for it. Based on details from the newly released iOS 6 beta 3, it looks like at least one carrier is planning to monetize the feature.

That carrier would be AT&T, once Apple’s exclusive partner in the U.S.

Apple is said to be preparing a quad-core system-on-a-chip (SOC) for the iPhone 5, which to us, doesn’t really seem to be news, as many new smartphones are releasing with quad-core processors. However, saying it would be based on the architecture of BFF and worst-enemy-foreverSamsung‘s Exynos 4 processor, now that is news.

The rumored quad-core chip information came from DigiTimes, which sources its information from Asian supply chain vendors. Details on the rumored processor, including clock speed or graphics processing capabilities, were not revealed.
