Reuben Vincent & 9th Wonder Debut Nostalgic New Video, For New Single, DRE & SIDNEY feat. Sweata & Raheem DeVaughn

Reuben Vincent continues to show why he is currently one of Hip-Hop’s not only most talented young emcees and lyricist’s, but really all of Hip-Hop with his just released new single, DRE & SIDNEY. A very soulfully nostalgic 9th Wonder-produced track that is a tribute to Reuben’s first love of Hip-Hop and mirrors the main character Sidney and Dre’s lifelong love of the genre in the classic 2002 film, Brown Sugar. His track similarly blurring the lines between romance and reverence, reflecting both the personal and cultural devotion that fuels his artistry. As Reuben so brilliantly raps, “I would travel a thousand miles. Get on the plane, bust a train to see you smile. We was friends, but pretend would be in denial. But now I am trying to take a swim. Your river is a Nile. Splash. I shot from a distance going long range. I am trying to be long term. I am all game. I know a lot of n***as calling you names. But you my soulmate, you my twin flame. When I first met her I was three-years-old and what I loved most, she had so much soul. It was the worst, the sounds that I heard from the system. I loved the way she talked and how she moved to the rhythm. I first seen her in Tha Basement with Big Tigger. And ever since she was someone couldn’t get rid of. I really think I want to make her my wife. Yo, Hip-Hop you the love of my life.” Showing Reuben Vincent’s heartfelt lyricism and storytelling again too. Raheem DeVaughn’s soulful interpretation of Marvin Gaye’s classic, Distant Lover, to open the record really setting the tone for such a nostalgic record. That coupled with Reuben’s truly great heartfelt lyricism and storytelling as well as Sweata’s ethereal soulful backing vocals elevates the track even more. For a track that is not only steeped in deep nostalgia, but longing too and channels early 2000’s Hip-Hop and Soul while also still feeling distinctly modern as well.

Reuben Vincent & 9th Wonder also debuting earlier today as well through Vevo. A cinematically nostalgic Reuben Vincent and Kielan Alexander co-directed video for the record. That sees Reuben and his leading lady recreating timeless nostalgic scenes from the actual Brown Sugar movie like Sidney & Dre sitting on the bench talking and also walking together talking in the park, as well as the scene of them drunk arguing in the kitchen about their current relationships being great for them. The timeless and nostalgic feel of the record brought to life even more through that same sort of nostalgic timeless, yet modern feel of the video.

Both the video and single alongside recent singles, Gotta Get It and Queen City. Truly showing why Reuben Vincent is one of Hip-Hop’s most compelling and talented current voices. 9th Wonder’s masterful production alongside it further cementing why and why Reuben Vincent & 9th Wonder’s upcoming collaboration album is so highly-anticipated.
