Mobb Deep has released their first new music in over a decade and since member, Prodigy’s untimely passing in 2017 with their new single, Against The World. That is the first single from their upcoming highly-anticipated new album, Infinite, which is due out, Oct. 10th and the latest in Nas and Mass Appeal’s, Legend Has It, campaign. That is also the iconic Queensbridge duo’s first posthumous release and the second posthumous release from Prodigy, following his 2022 solo album, The Hegelian Dialectic 2: The Book of Heroine.
The opening track from the upcoming 15-track new album, is produced by member, Havoc and has that beautifully cinematic and real dark unfiltered brash energy and sound we have come to expect over the decades from Mobb Deep. The intro from the late great Prodigy saying, “Uh-uh. Stronger than ever. I’m back, n***a. Hahaha. Yeah, yeah. Uh-huh, listen.” Before going into his verses of, “New York is just one crumb on the map, one crumb ain’t a lot. You happy with that piece? I’m gonna need that pie. To satisfy my thirst, pacify my greed. For blood, money and power. The feds turned me into a monster. Addicted to when they scream. You had one hit in your life, one second of fame. One of you n***as act up, everybody pays. All of you n***as back up, or I’ma start sprayin’. It’s the Ring Around the Rollie and, pocket full of old men. Ashes to ashes, all my fallen soldiers.” Just giving you, the listener, straight up chills and goosebumps when you hear it. The chorus that both Prodigy and Havoc rap together. Also given fans, new and old, of Mobb Deep straight up chills hearing P and Hav together again. Havoc with his production on the track also showing again why he is among the best producers of all-time, who doesn’t always get his full just dues as so. Havoc and longtime friend, as well as collaborator, The Alchemist, producing all of the album together too.
