PARTYOF2, the very talented Los Angeles-based duo of Jadagrace and SWIM, who many may remember as a part of four member group, grouptherapy. That also included members Rhea and TJOnline before they departed the group and SWIM and Jadagrace rebranded themselves earlier this year as, PARTYOF2. Having done a lot since the rebrand, which includes signing with the historic groundbreaking, Def Jam Recordings earlier this year. Releasing the track and video, we owe you an explanation, back in January. Before dropping their EP, we owe you an explanation, as their first release under Def Jam back in March. Jadagrace and SWIM have continued to make waves as, PARTYOF2, releasing the thrilling video for their single, poser, back in April. While also yesterday announcing their highly-anticipated debut album as a duo, AMERIKA’S NEXT TOP PARTY! Will be released on Oct. 17th.
PARTYYOF2 celebrating the recent announcement by also yesterday debuting their very fresh and nostalgically searing creative and fun new single, FRIENDLY FIRE. That finds both Jadagrace and SWIM taken friendly jabs at one another in a friendly fun creative battle with one another. Jadagrace doing the playful intro asking their mom to tell a story. Before SWIM then starts rapping such sharp fun playful bars as, “Who the fvck is this? Hit me on the ‘Gram at 6. Saying Jadagrace tryna diss. (What?) SWIM made many men swim with the fishes. So what’s one more? Just add it to the list. If we talking war, let’s put the friendship aside. Me versus you, I’d be the one to survive. Biggie, Jay-Z, Nas, the legacy I derive. It was written in the blueprint, I hope you ready to die.” The chorus egging each other on to diss the other then coming in before Jadagrace then starts rapping her own playfully fun jabs at SWIM. Such as, “First off, fvck your b**ch and the clique you claim. Playin’ ice cold knowin’ that it’s in my veins. You a lame, it’s a shame, you ain’t built for this rap game. If I’m bein’ real, boy, you should’ve stuck to acting. (That’s true) Once upon a time, there was a boy named SWIM. (Uh-huh) SWIM thought he could float with the pen. (Right). SWIM killed everyone until I (Oh). Ran into SWIM and then SWIM died.” Both SWIM and Jadagrace continuing to playfully take jabs at one another for a few more rounds in a very creatively fun and nostalgic way while also showing homage to the art of storytelling in Hip-Hop and Rap and some of their favorite emcees they grew up on such as Slick Rick, Biggie, Jay-Z, Nas and 2Pac. You can even hear some of their favorite emcees homage to greats like Slick Rick in part of their flow mixed with their own as a nostalgic, yet still fresh perspective to today’s Hip-Hop and Rap.
If that wasn’t enough PARTYOF2 also yesterday debuted through Vevo. The very creatively fun and fresh self-directed video for the track. Having Jadagrace and SWIM in the context of a presidential campaign and debate. Showing how similarly the concept of presidential campaigns and debates are to rap battles. As it is basically just making fun of and throwing jabs at each other about each other about things that are not always true and can be lies. But whether it is a rap battle or presidential debate. The end goal is to try to deceive your audience as much as possible to show why you are the greatest at whatever you are vying for. Whether it be crowned as the better emcee and/or rapper or as the next president. Also you can tell the influence of other great emcees and artists that Jadagrace and SWIM grew up on such as Busta Rhymes, Ludacris and Missy Elliott. With how creatively fun and fresh the video is too.
