Ahead of the long Labor Day weekend J.I.D and Clipse have debuted just a little over a few hours ago through Vevo the brand new Omar Jones-directed video for their standout collaboration, Community. That is by far one of the most standout and talked about tracks from J.I.D’s recently a few weeks ago released critically-acclaimed latest album, God Does Like Ugly.
The video like the track is a very cinematically striking and powerful one. That sees all three elite emcees and lyricist’s in the Atlanta community projects that J.I.D grew up in showing all the things the kids that grow up there go through that J.I.D raps about on a good portion of the track. Very striking shots in red of J.I.D with kids from behind gates of the project looking on and by other parts of the project as he raps, “I don’t give a fvck about no industry beef. Ain’t nobody give a fvck when Tay was dead in the street.” Almost seen as a metaphor for blood and death to bring those lyrics even more to life. Clipse members Pusha T and Malice in the empty project hallways rapping their powerful commentary about growing up similarly in the Virginia projects they grew up in. J.I.D by their side for part of it and also seen at one point walking kids by himself on the sidewalks on the outside of the projects. Malice’s standout bars of, “Section 8 livin’, we treat it like a timeshare. Mother, auntie, cousin, couldn’t tell you who reside there. But never seen a father that was government devised here. Conquer and divide here, crash and collide here. When kings can’t raise a young prince, the doves cry here. Candy lady right there, zombieland right there. Them ‘partments be the perfect backdrop for any nightmare.” Hitting home even more in the dark empty project hallways they are in and is perfectly captured by Jones in the video. To help bring his strikingly strong and powerful bars on the track even more to life as well. An overall cinematically striking and powerful video that bring the already striking and powerful commentary from these three elite Hip-Hop emcees and lyricist’s even more to life to make listeners love and appreciate the track that much more.
