Africa’s Renaissance: Tyla & Ayra Ignite Change

African talent is taking the spotlight at the 2025 Global Citizen Festival. Tyla from South Africa and Ayra Starr from Nigeria join a power-packed lineup with The Weeknd, Shakira, and Mariah the Scientist. Set on Central Park’s Great Lawn on September 27, this event promises a blend of music and meaningful activism.

The festival is stepping up its commitment to Africa. It will fuel a major drive to bring energy access to 1 million Africans. In addition, it will train 50,000 young people in clean energy skills. This project aims to improve lives and offer new job opportunities. Major donors include the European Commission and many global governments.

Global Citizen also pushes for environmental and educational change. Its campaign will protect 30 million hectares in the Amazon Rainforest. It will raise funds to support Indigenous conservation and entrepreneurial efforts that keep billions of trees standing. Moreover, the festival works with FIFA to provide quality education to 30,000 children worldwide.

Hosted by Hugh Jackman, a long-time ambassador of Global Citizen, this event blends fun with a call to action. Shakira expressed her excitement, noting that music connects communities and inspires change. The festival invites fans to take action for free tickets. By choosing to volunteer and support these causes, everyone can make a difference.

This is more than a concert. It is a movement that uplifts diverse voices and drives social change. The Hip Hop Democrat celebrates this fusion of culture and activism that speaks directly to our generation.
