Legendary and iconic visionary artist, Madlib, has already started 2024 with a bang by releasing, YHWH is Love, as Jahari Massamba Unit with fellow great musician, Karriem Riggins, back in March. Plus the Your Old Droog collaboration, DBZ featuring Method Man and Denzel Curry, nearly two and a half weeks ago. That is the first taste of their upcoming just recently announced collaboration album that is tentatively slated to drop sometime this year.
While now Madlib and Your Old Droog have connected again. This time for Madlib’s very own newest single, REEKYOD that also features fellow living legend and icon, Black Thought. Madlib’s very cinematic production the perfect backdrop for both Black Thought and YOD’s lyrical mastery on the track. That has Thought spitting such standout bars as, ”They say the root of all evil is light green, make many a wife leave. Perusing a right dream. I met a few on the last train from nowhere. The reason in the fast lane is to go there. The Roots flew to the moon and did a show there.” While Your Old Droog holds his own with such standout bars as, ”Never wanted fame. I came to dissolve this conspiracy theory and clear me of these false charges. And what else? Rescue your ears from that hot garbage. Everything I spit, shine. Imma get mine, regardless.”
