As you know we mostly cover Hip-Hop, as well as R&B and Soul. Plus sometimes Jazz, Funk and a few other genres and very rarely ever, if at all country. While upcoming rising R&B, Country and Gospel trailblazer, Tiera Kennedy, who isn’t really confined to only Country and has elements of R&B and Gospel is someone that we couldn’t pass on covering her and her just released very beautifully raw and amazing new single, Somebody Like You. A record that was inspired by a real life realization about how important it is to have that “somebody” who brings you back to yourself. Who reminds you when to slow down, stay grounded and breathe. Who you can lean on when you feel lost. Like Tiera sings on the chorus. Singing, “Everybody needs somebody. Somebody to lean on. Everybody needs somebody. Got both their feet on the ground. Water your roots. Up your downs to get you through. Everybody needs somebody. Somebody like you.”
Tiera also releasing a just as beautifully raw Kamren Kennedy-directed accompanying video for the record. Which sees her in a beautiful Tennessee field expressing the beautifully raw emotions of the song as she plays in the fields while singing the record. Tiera showing what a beautifully talented spirit and artist she is through the video and beautiful raw new single. That shows off her simple, yet great songwriting as well. The simple, yet raw beauty of her playing and performing the record in the field really helping bring that beautiful rawness and feeling of the song even more to life too.
The new single from Tiera Kennedy just the latest example of why she continues to be an artist on the rise to really watch. That has already worked with everyone from the legendary and iconic, Beyoncé on her songs, BLACKBIIRD and TYRANT, off her 2025 GRAMMY Album of the Year and Country Album of the Year winner, COWBOY CARTER. To also working with the legendary and iconic Dolly Parton and Dionne Warwick on the music video for their duet, Peace Like A River. Not to mention also being invested in by such cross-genre talent before her as pop country icon Shania Twain, who has mentored her since the inception of her career. A perfect time for Tiera Kennedy to release the new single as she just recently came off her very first headlining show in Nashville at the city’s The Basement East venue. Which is known since it opened nearly a decade ago for putting on some of the city’s most must-see live shows. This is just the beginning of an already promising career for the trailblazing artist, who has the possibility of being a star name for years to come.
