Orion Sun is back and is as beautifully personal as ever on her just released highly-anticipated new self-titled album, Orion. That is 14 new tracks of some of the very sought after singer and songwriter, as well as producer’s most expansive and personal work to date. Including the very beautifully soulful sweet previous released single, Sweet. As well as also previously released singles Mary Jane and Already Gone.
Orion having the following to say in a part of her statement about the new album, “This album, like all of my albums, is about love. It’s about the pain love brings whether you are with or without love. Pain finds you and tells you sweet things like ‘you will grow from this’, or ‘you wouldn’t have learned this without knowing me’. Pain has a point meaning pain has direction. Sometimes pain leads me to my vices like weed and alcohol, lust, and too many sweets. It’s the same coping mechanism as stubbing your toes but biting your arm to redirect the pain away from your hurt toe. As you can imagine, this path leads to nowhere. Best case scenario it leads you back to where you started. I had to lose sight of my future so I could be present. I had to walk into the unknown knowing I could get to where I wanted to go even if I was scared. I’m always told to pick my head up but the longer you stare at the ground you begin to see it move then you get to see the whole world that lives on the ground. Ants like stars on sidewalk galaxies. I am of this world and many more, including the one where our love was enough and the world was on our side. I’m grateful for love because it makes you who you really are.”
Orion also celebrating the album’s release by also debuting through Vevo. A beautifully personal brand new Linus Johnson-directed video for one of the album’s most standout tracks, These Days. That sees Orion in a pool of water like a prism orion sun trying to keep her “head above water.” Like she sings on part of the chorus. As her and Johnson so strikingly capture all of the personal emotions of Orion so beautifully singing about a love that’s making it hard for her to keep her head above water to make it through the day. To really bring the very beautiful personal record even more to life.
