A$AP Rocky Debuts Cinematically Trippy Noir New Black-and-White Video For, HIGHJACK

With A$AP Rocky’s highly-anticipated and long-awaited fourth album, Don’t Be Dumb, set to drop in the Fall. Plus fresh off the heels of dropping his most recent single, HIGHJACK, just a few weeks ago. That features an incredible hook by the incredibly talented, Jessica Pratt and multi-GRAMMYs Award-winning artist, Jon Batiste, on background vocals. The very talented emcee, multi-hyphenate artist, entrepreneur, actor and fashion icon returning to said single today by debuting through Vevo. A brand new AWGE and Thibaut Gravet co-directed video for the single.

The new video a very cinematic trippy noir black-and-white one. Which sees Rocky in an oversized, very stylized house-like set. That starts off with a spinning up and then on its side door reading, “A$AP ROCKY – HIGHJACK – DIRECTED BY T. GREVET.” Before the door turns right side up and goes straight into the opening for the key lock. To several shots of Rocky in different corners of a room with several different outfits. As the camera frame continually moves to him rapping in different frames, while the perspectives of the room around him continually shift. Shadows of women twerking appearing on the walls while his A$AP Mob is seen sitting down dancing. Before a pair of hands rocking rings that have the album’s title, Don’t Be Dumb, written on them appear hanging out a wall. As we get to the midway point of the visual. Things start to get more trippy with Rocky standing outside the front of an open door and shots of several doors with people in them next to him. As he raps and several kaleidoscopes of wild imagery from a real life puzzle Rocky appears stuck in to him in a frame of a window smoking and him stuck in the corner of a frame with a creepy haunting shady appear. As well as several ridiculously crazy trippy kaleidoscope imagery of Rocky, A$AP Mob and Rocky getting up from a bed to put on his black-and-white suit appears from side to side. As the chorus is being sung.

The very trippy cinematically noir black-and-white clip closing with four doors closing. Before Rocky is seen standing up in his suit with the bed right behind him. Then is seen standing over a gargoyle like roof nodding his head as the chorus continues being sung. Right before panning up to another noir like background of Rocky on top of another rooftop. That looks like it could be straight out of a very noir Batman and/or comic book like story of an actual comic or movie. Right before the video closes with A$AP Rocky just standing rocking a shirt with his album title, Don’t Be Dumb, on the back that he’s pointing down to. That image also seen as a shadow on the wall. Really helping bring the track even more to life with what is easily not only one of A$AP Rocky’s best music videos to date, but among the best music videos you will ever see. Which is why Rocky is always so highly regarded as an artist, who puts his all into everything he does and is among a few select artists there still is who puts the ART in artist almost every time he releases new music, a video or a performance.
