SiR brought all the beautifully soulful vibes for his beautifully soulful and amazing Sunday evening set on the IHG Hotels & Resorts stage. For the fourth and final day of Lollapalooza’s 2024 and 20th anniversary Chicago edition of the world-renowned music festival here in Grant Park. With what was also among the most beautiful crowds I saw of the whole festival too.
Coming out in a black t-shirt and cargo pants, SiR, started out with his HEAVY (INTRO) and KARMA for his most recent critically-acclaimed latest album, HEAVY, released earlier this year. The very talented singer and songwriter, as well as vocalists then going into a really beautiful rendition of what is still one of his best records to date, John Redcorn. Really showing off his absolutely beautiful smooth amazing vocals. Which he continued to do on what is another of his classic standout previously released singles and records, You Can’t Save Me. Which prior to that he asked fans in the crowd if he played old songs from an album called, Chasing Summer.
That section of SiR’s set featured many of his older records such as, Dreaming of Me, The Canvas and Mood. Prior to performing Mood the singer asking and trying to see if the left or right side was the loudest. Then asking if he could bring someone else out. To which he brought out his Top Dawg Entertainment labelmate, Zacari. As they gave a really beautiful amazing rendition of, Mood.
One third of the way through his set, SiR, then went backstage while his interview with Sway in the Morning played about being better with his health. Emerging back on stage with no shirt to cheers and screaming all the females in the crowd. SiR then pulling right up to the mic stand went into a very beautifully amazing rendition of SIX WHOLE DAYS and then NO EVIL. Right after he finished that record stepping back and telling the crowd, “Y’all give it up one time for my band. Don’t they sound so good?” To cheers from the crowd. Letting the band play a little bit before stepping back up to the mic and then starting to sway back and forth from one side of the stage to the other as he so beautifully sang his standout single, YOU. With the crowd so beautifully singing along with the very relatable lyrics about a love you are so dedicated to and made a song about.
SiR then asked the crowd if they heard about an album he recently released, HEAVY and who has heard it. That if they didn’t that they should listen to it. He then mentioned about how it was five year’s since he last played a show in Chicago and with all he has been through since then. “I am glad it’s here for Lollapalooza. It’s hot as fvck here in Chicago too and this is one of the hottest places I’ve ever played.” SiR then went into a couple of his older records, Ooh Nah Nah and Fire. Remarking on how he wished his brother, Masego, who is featured on the record was there to perform the it with him. Before he stepped back up to the mic stand again giving a very beautifully rendition of record. Then swaying along each side of the stage as the crowd sang along with him to, Fire, that was perfect in the sweltering early Sunday evening Chicago weather.
A little halfway through his set, SiR, then stepped back up to the mic stand starting to so beautifully sing his standout record, The Recipe. The crowd singing along in perfect harmony and then cheering after said, “Y’all give it up for my brother, Davion.” His actual brother, Davion Farris, who is featured on background vocals and co-wrote the record coming out. As they so perfectly in harmony swaying back and forth on stage together gave a really beautiful rendition of the song. SiR then stepping back up to the mic stand as perfectly in sync with his live band playing behind him, he gave a very beautifully sensually soulful smooth amazing performance of his just as beautifully sensually soulful and sultry standout record, That’s Why I Love You. To a bunch of ohhs and ahhs again from a bunch of the women in the crowd. Prior to that saying how this was the part of the show where he took requests from fans on what to play for the rest of the set. To which he got a lot of requests for, Hair Down. That he would eventually play later on.
Getting to the very latter part of his performance, SiR, would take things back to his most recent album, HEAVY. As he swayed back and forth on stage with the crowd so perfectly in sync singing and dancing along with him to his very popular single, POETRY IN MOTION. His band really making the performance that much better too, as he so smoothly and seamlessly transitioned into a very beautifully soulful smooth rendition of, NOTHING EVEN MATTERS. Right before so sensually swaying back and forth on stage again singing, Hair Down, with the crowd singing along so perfectly in harmony with him. Right before he very smoothly segued right away to cheers in the crowd for, D’Evils.
As he got ready to close his beautifully soulful and stunning amazing debut Lollapalooza performance. SiR standing at the mic gave a very emotional speech saying, “I am really blessed. A lot of people don’t make it out of what I made it out of, man.” The beautifully amazing crowd cheering as he continued, “I always tell everybody I can that my sobriety is not my own alone. It belongs to you guys as well too.” With near tears in his eyes and putting his head down for a moment the crowd cheered, “We love you.” Right before he continued, “I am blessed to get to do what I love. But the only reason I get to do it is because you guys show much love and support. And you like my music and you share it. You tell your friends and you continuously support like you do. And it is a big thing. A lot of artists don’t get this kind of support. For as long as I’ve had this constant support. So from the bottom of my heart before I go I just want to say, Thank you.” Right to cheers from the crowd before going into a very beautifully soulful smooth rendition of, Something New. Switching the opening lyrics of, “I found another life in London, it’s true. I feel in love with the summer, feel in love with you.” To, “I found another life in Chicago, it’s true. I feel in love with the summer, feel in love with you.” His hands swaying up and down by the mic stand as he continued to show off his beautifully soulful smooth amazing vocals prowess. That his backing band so perfectly matched in sync with him to elevate the performance to even better soulfully smooth heights. Right as he and the band then so smoothly transitioned into the very joyous vibes of, LIFE IS GOOD. That the beautifully stunning and amazing crowd sang along in perfect harmony with, SiR, as the perfect way to close out such a beautifully soulful and amazing debut Lollapalooza performance from the very talented singer and songwriter, as well as vocalists. That had anyone told you, they probably won’t believe you that it was his first Lollapalooza performance with how amazing it was and that should definitely have his standout performance bringing him back to the world-renowned music festival on an even bigger stage in just a few more year’s.
