Killer Mike & The Mighty Midnight Revival Give Beautifully Spiritual Moving Lollapalooza Performance That Includes Surprise Guest, Eryn Allen Kane

Killer Mike & The Mighty Midnight Revival brought a beautifully spiritual moving performance for their primetime evening set on the Bacardi stage. For day three of Lollapalooza’s 2024 and 20th anniversary Chicago edition of the world-renowned music festival here in Grant Park. With what was one of the most diverse crowds of the festival’s three days so far.

A set that started with the singing group, The Mighty Midnight Revival, decked in all-white attire bringing church to the stage. To let us know right away how spiritual and moving Mike’s set would be. The all-white spiritual theme apart of everyone’s attire from Killer Mike decked in a white t-shirt with matching white pants and white gym shoes. His longtime DJ, Trackstarr, also decked in all white with the table he was at DJing having a white cloth with a church like setup. The Mighty Midnight Revival then introducing Michael as he would be known by, before he went into a spiritually moving rendition of, DOWN BY LAW, to start his set.

Mike would then give a speech on how much he loved people like Johnson. As well as other people like Fred Hampton, who he shouted out. Saying how, “He was murdered at 21-years-old by a government trying to defend the rights of us and to get America to look more like this crowd. Full of different races, different ethnicities, different religion’s. All here for one common purpose. So past the music. I want to make sure that Chicago stays united in solidarity with the people. So I like to evoke the spirit of Fred Hampton and I like to give props to Fred Hampton Jr. And I would love to show love to his widow who had to shed tears after he was gone.” Then finally going a very spiritually moving performance of his standout record, SHED TEARS. Keeping the crowd engaged he said how difficult it was to bring along someone else in The Mighty Midnight Revival, who he noted as not backup singers, but an actual group of singers that was now apart of his performances alongside his longtime DJ, Trackstarr. Which was a hard change for them at first after it was just them for nearly 15 year’s of performances. Mike as he took a break letting each of the members of the group introduce themselves. Before going into a performance of his Young Thug and Dave Chappelle featured single, RUN. Asking about Freeing Young Thug prior to performing the track.

Killer Mike would bring the energy up with a very energetic performance of previous single, TALK’N THAT SH*T! As the crowd emphatically rapped and sang along to the very energetic track. Right before he then gave somewhat of a speech again saying how proud he was of Chicago and all the great things they do in the city that aren’t always highlighted to keep things organized with different organizations helping each other. Before thanking the late great Rico Wade for letting him be apart of such a great family as, The Dungeon Family. Saying, “I want to start by saying thank Rico Wade for starting something that gave you Killer Mike. That gave you Andre 3000 and that gave you Future. I am very proud to be part of The Dungeon Family. I am even prouder to have made some new family in a woman named, Eryn Allen Kane. Who is from Detroit, but her second home city is a place called, Chicago, Illinois. And I want to thank her. Man. Y’all give a hand this is your all daughter. You give her a hand.” Eryn Allen Kane then coming out as a surprise guest saying, “Hi, Chicago.” To cheers from the crowd. Killer Mike along with Eryn and The Mighty Midnight Revival then going into a very spiritually beautiful performance of their GRAMMY Award-winning record, SCIENTISTS & ENGINEERS.

As Eryn then went off stage, Mike said how Big Boi requested he performed this. Right before he went into a more uptempo performance of Big Boi’s single, Kill Jill that he and Jeezy are featured on. The crowd emphatically singing and rapping along. That section of the performance being the most energetic part that also included him asking his day one fans if he could play something old. Right before going into a very energetic performance of the, Never Scared Remix, he’s featured on. That had Mike, The Mighty Midnight Revival and the crowd bringing all the energy, as they energetically and emphatically rapped the high-energy memorable lyrics to the track.

Killer Mike would then slow the tempo all the way down. As he gave a very amazing acapella performance of his most recent single, HUMBLE ME. Right before ending his performance with a spiritually beautiful and moving performance of his single, MOTHERLESS and then, HIGH & HOLY. Michael exclaiming prior to his performance of HIGH & HOLY. That, “This is more than just a rap concert. Because it’s a rap concert and then some. Because you guys are the closest thing to a church I have. It’s because of rap fans that I believe there is something bigger out there that is not outside of us. That is inside of us and it’s my job to honor something divine in you each day. So I hope you leave here today vibrating high and holy. I hope you leave here today with courage and filled with joy. I hope you leave here today knowing that you are loved. You are thought about and you are cared for.” The very beautifully spiritual moving performance of, HIGH & HOLY, he performed and then Michael & The Mighty Midnight Revival going into a spiritual clap singing thank you, as Michael said to make some noise for yourselves and thanking everyone in the crowd for being there for his performance. Also saying, “Thank you, Chicago, Illinois. Thank you so much.” Right as Michael, The Mighty Midnight Revival and the crowd spiritually clapped together like a church service. That was the perfect way to close out his very beautifully spiritual and moving set.
