The day has finally arrived. Today Lupe Fiasco releases his highly-anticipated newest project, Samurai. Which is eight new tracks all produced by longtime collaborator and fellow Chicagoan, Soundtrakk. Which also features previously released singles Cake & Samurai.
To celebrate and coincidence with the release of the new project, Lupe also debuts through Vevo a brand new Cris & Blaq-directed video for, No. 1 Headband. That was shot in his hometown of Chicago and sees him riding around in a luxury vehicle with Kush Baby, who co-produced the track. Lu also seen standing outside a building. Two more women, LaJé and Luv Moore who sing background vocals on the chorus for the triumphant track and a saxophone player also appearing. As Lupe raps his lyrically dope lines in reference to Black Samurai of, ”Numero uno, Yokozuna and sumo. To try to run in my shoes, gotta throw yo’ Pumas to Pluto. Karate in those huaraches, only sukais get that judo. High flying soul going so far and solar. And solo is no-show and anti- and -social turned Gary to Gold Coast. From goalpost to soldier, a toll road’s a toll, bro. I’m number one.”
