Back in 2016. J. Cole was one of the biggest emcees and artists not only in Hip-Hop, but most all of music. So it was no surprise he was one of the headliners for Lollapalooza’s 25th Anniversary show. That year. Just as big, if not bigger now. As he was than. It should obviously be no surprise that Cole. Will be headlining once again for this year’s 2022 edition. Which will be taking place at the end of the month from July 28th-July 31st. With Cole set to headline on the T-Mobile main stage the third day of July 30th.
As big as Cole has been. It is somewhat of a surprise that it has taken six years for him to be selected to headline Lollapalooza again. Which he is definitely no stranger to. This set to be his fourth time already in his career that he has performed at the world-renowned music festival. Which takes place in Chicago’s famed Grant Park. That is the most appearances of not only any performer this year, but may even be. If not the top. Near the top ever appearances ever at Lollapalooza.
The Roc Nation emcee. Has done a lot since his last Lollapalooza appearance too. Releasing two more No. 1 solo albums in KOD and The Off-Season. Plus through his own Dreamville Records. Releasing the GRAMMYS-award nominated compilation album, Revenge of the Dreamers III. That not only earned three nominations, but received plenty of critical acclaim. While also not only helping catapult the careers of his Dreamville artists Cozz, J.I.D., and EARTHGANG. But outside of the label artists Young Nudy, Mez, and REASON. With Nudy even set to perform this year at Lollapalooza as well.
If that wasn’t enough. Cole also launched his very successful own, Dreamville Festival in 2019 in his hometown of Raleigh, North Carolina. So you can say that he has become somewhat of a festival expert. Which is also another reason why it should be no surprise. That Cole is one of the main headliners for Lollapalooza this year. With his headlining performance also one of the more anticipated ones of the whole weekend.
