Lollapalooza is back and back at full scale for 2022. After being canceled in 2020 and returning last year with a slightly scaled down version of the four-day festival, in Chicago’s world-famous Grant Park. Lollapalooza organizers announced this morning the lineup for Lollapalooza 2022. Which is going to be headlined by the likes of Metallica, Dua Lipa, J. Cole, Green Day and Doja Cat. The lineup for the festival, which will run from July 28th-31st. Was announced just hours before tickets went on-sale for what’s usually always one of the most anticipated summer festivals of the summer festival season and especially here in Chicago.
This year’s lineup is a somewhat actually pretty solid one. With such greats as Big Sean, Jazmine Sullivan (who could’ve easily been a headliner herself), Don Toliver, Charli XCX, Tinashe and YG. Also part of the just earlier today revealed lineup. That also includes Rock legends Jane’s Addiction. The latter also being the band of Lollapalooza founder Perry Farrell.
Besides those already mentioned headliners above and the other ones noted above. Some other notable names include rising and/or on the verge stars such as Denzel Curry, Blxst, Cordae, Larry June, Young Nudy, Mariah the Scientist and Mahalia.
Known for also featuring several or at least a few hometown Chicago acts over the years. Outside of a few Pop acts. There surprisingly isn’t that much hometown representation in the lineup. Especially on the Hip-Hop side of things. Where there has been a huge representation in years past from the likes of such homegrown Chicago Hip-Hop acts as Chance The Rapper, G Herbo, Valee, Chance’s brother Taylor Bennett and a few others. Longtime Chance collaborator and friend, Peter CottanTale. The only real lone Hip-Hop act with any hometown Chicago ties.
All that said if you haven’t yet and are still trying to, be sure to cop tickets for 4-day passes here. The schedule for the full lineup is on the flyer towards the top. With single day tickets scheduled to go on-sale at a later date.
