Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN. Tops Billboard 200 Chart For Second Straight Week

A week after debuting on top as the No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 albums chart with his latest critically-acclaimed album, DAMN., Kendrick Lamar is once again on top of the charts for a second straight week.

Just a week after having the largest opening week of 2017 thus far with his 603,000 equivalent album units sold, Kendrick’s second week sales of 238,00 equivalent album units, according to Nielsen Music for the week ending April 27th, marks the fourth-largest week numbers of 2017 for an album.

The debuts of the TDE emcee’s new set last week, Drake’s More Life with 505,000 and Ed Sheeran’s ÷ with 451,000  in their debut weeks earlier this year marking the three highest weeks for an album so far this year.  Which is amazing considering that Kendrick’s set seen a 61 percent decline from its debut week, only a week earlier.

Now it will be interesting to see how long it remains atop the Billboard 200 albums chart, as well as how much its numbers continue to decline.  Which could make it hard to stay atop the charts.
