Press Releases:

Chicago Hip Hop Artist Examines Social Issues Between an Obama Presidency and Hip Hop Within Urban Communities

CHICAGO, January 8, 2009 – The Hip Hop Democrat, created by Chicago hip hop artist Fokus, shines light on social issues within urban communities while educating, informing and entertaining fans of hip-hop through the culture and the ways it influences society socially, economically and politically. TheHipHopDemocrat.com, a blog and online community, encourages participation and fosters an active interest through commentary on relevant current events.

Through the website, TheHipHopDemocrat.com, Fokus provides an online community to address many issues that hip hop will touch outside of the music industry in the present and in the future. One of the most important discussions is examining the influence of an Obama administration, the hip hop culture and the potential conflict and interaction within urban communities.

Currently, hip hop has already begun to bridge the gap between music and politics and this change will continue to impact the way young urban voters view politics in the future. The Hip Hop Democrat directly addresses these important issues such as race, education and poverty offering an alternate perspective from mainstream media.
