Ford will offer hybrid at same price as gas model

Posted in: Technology by SanaArshad on July 22, 2010

DEARBORN, Mich. (AP) – For the first time, an American automaker plans to sell a hybrid car for the same, lower price as its gas-powered counterpart, removing at least one obstacle for drivers who want a greener ride.

At a little more than $35,000, the 2011 Lincoln MKZ sedan won’t be cheap, but the decision by Ford to match the prices of the two styles could lead competitors to follow suit with future models.

The hybrid MKZ, debuting this fall and running on both gas and electric power, will be a bargain after factoring in savings at the pump. It gets more than double the mileage of the traditional version in city driving.

The people have spoke and they want more Lupe. Lupe Fiasco fans have made a petition demanding the release of Lupe’s third album “Lasers.” It’s no secret that the album is done, and Lupe himself has already announced that it’s in the hands of the lable, Atlantic records.

The petition which is targeted at Atlantic Records after Lupe announced via twitter that the album is done and is in Atlantic Record’s hands, is below.

Dear Atlantic Records,

Ok, Ok…. so thats NOT the photo BP actually released. Here’s the real photo below…

It took them getting caught manipulating images TWICE before they decided to come clean about altering images to present what I’m guessing is a stringer response to the initial explosion and oil spill crisis. This whole incident kind of reminds me of a kid that has to get caught red handed, multiple times before even admitting they did something wrong. But finally, BP has acknowledged their practice of photoshopping some of the official images of their Deepwater Horizon clean-up efforts, and has vowed to stop manipulating photographs going forward. They’ve also created a Flickr account where you can see the unaltered originals.

Vibration-powered generating batteries recharge when shaken

Posted in: News by SanaArshad on July 22, 2010

Whether you’re away from electricity or you don’t mind expending a few of your own calories, a new generator allows you to recharge it simply by shaking it. Its developer, Brother Industries Ltd, says that the “vibration-powered generating battery” can replace AA and AAA batteries for devices that have a power consumption of about 100 mW, such as a flashlight or remote control.

This year’s New Music Seminar in New York wrapped after a series of panels which included “The Creative Conundrum,” about increasing your odds with radical differentiation with Just Blaze and “The Breaks” with Swizz Beatz and Vinnie “vin-Rock” Brown of Naughty By Nature. The original Seminars were staged from 1980 to 1995 and were revived by Silverman and partner Tom Lory after a hiatus and a LA version of the event earlier this year.

After the success of this years sold out seminar I think it’s certain that, Tom Silverman, founder of Tommy Boy Records, has most definitely brought his legendary New Music Seminar event back to New York City.
