Today is the first day of the Senate impeachment trial for Ex-Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich. Stemming from coruption charges on the idea that he put the Senate seat in Illinois, once held by President Obama, for sale. Also based on various other charges based on a current Federal investigation into other possible corruption acts he has committed during his term. In previous statements he has invoked the likeness of Dr. Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela, and Ghandi and I’m thinking  what the hell is he doing even putting himself in the same sentence with those great men.

Over the weekend I came across this song by Bay Area artist Mistah Fab. The song is called “My Life” and is a tribute to Oscar Grant the victim of the police shooting on the B.A.R.T metro line January 1st,  and other victims of unneccessary police brutality. To be honest as a fan of hip hop this is one of the realest songs I’ve heard, and he does a great job at relating the problems inncer city urban communities face everyday as opposed to the ones that happen to get news coverage. He mentions a lot of issues that need to be consistently discussed amongst our communities and on the national stage, these are issues that weren’t campaigned about, but definitely affect the way our youth are being brought up. Take a listen, and open your minds on this Martin Luther King Jr. Day(Observed) and realize that only part of his dream has been realized and e have a long way to go. But we are making progress.

Last November during an interview, Quincy Jones made is opinion know that there should be an official government position representing the Arts and other Entertainment Culture within government. He actually took it to a higher level than what I wrote about a while back asking if there needs to be a “Hip Hop Representative in Government”  in retrospect maybe other forms of music and entertainment should be represented as well. Actually the idea isn’t hat far fetched considering other countries have had representatives and Ministers in the Arts for ages, so maybe we’re actually behind. There is a petition online that has actually gained over 120,000 signatures, if you would like to be added sign the petition here.

Well, seeing that his days in the White House are dwindling down, he has a $2.7 Million dollar mansion he’s gonna be paying for, he’s gonna need some type of income right? Well, “the W” has decided that he’s going to the lecture circuit. The question is, seeing the horrible job Bush did as president, what would his speech be worth?

Blagojevich Impeached, House Vote 114-1

Ex-Gov Blagojevich

Ex-Gov Blagojevich

Well, after a long drawn out legal fiasco, the controversial appointment of Roland Burris to the senate, it seems that the Blagojevich scandal has come to rest. As far as him being governor is concerned. The Illinois House voted this morning 114-1 to Impeach the Governor.

You might be asking who the 1 lonely vote for Blago was and the answer is, Rep. Milt Patterson. Now why would he actually stand up for Blagojevich? He must not want to be re-elected, or know about some left over bribe money we don’t know about, lol. According to the Chicago Tribune his reason for voting was because he didn’t feel it was his responsibility to impeach the governor. Hmmmm, sounds funny to me.

Early News Years day a brawl on the Bay area transit system, BART, led to the detaining of a few men believed to be involved in the fight. What transpired that night is now the cause for uproar and extreme protesting in Oakland and the surrounding area.
