From Tragedy to Triumph: Introducing Rob Bates

Posted in: Hip Hop,Introduction,Music by PrinceAkeem on November 27, 2008

On this Thanksgiving all of us have a lot to be thankful for, even the fact that we were able to wake up this morning. So on this Thanksgiving story I want to introduce a member of the Hip Hop Community that has everything to be thankful for and we can all learn from him, what it means to take advantage of a second opportunity.

Rob Bates is a Chicago-bred producer with a great story behind his steady rise to stardom. He is not only a survivor of this harsh Chicago music industry, he is also a cancer survivor. A few years ago he was diagnosed with bone cancer, after doctors found a tumor in his arm. A setback that would challenge the best of us.  Luckilly doctors were able to remove the tumor and bone and replace it.

Now at the age of eighteen and a cancer survivor, he is thriving and living eachday to the fullest. Not wasting any time Rob returned to producing and decided that nothing but the best was in his future, after beating cancer it seems like

there’s nothing that can stop him. After being given  the opportunity to compete in the Red Bull Big Tune Producers contest this past year he came out victorious and showed the world that he’s got what it takes to be a big name contender in the realm of music producers.

Chicago seems to be the home of producers that overcome the biggest challenges that life has to offer. After Kanye West and his recorvery from his life threatening accident, I can only imagine the sucess that awaits. The Rob Bates story shows that determination and appreciation of life, which I feel is the key being blessed and successful.  I have faith that God will Bless Rob Bates with many successes in the future.

Meteor Crashes in Canada. Cover Up?

Posted in: Rumors,You Decide by hiphopdemocrat on November 25, 2008

Last Thursday a meteor was spotted in Western Canada over Alberta and Saskatchewan. If you haven’t seen the video(below) check it out. Truly amazing footage, that shows the meteor which is said to be the same size as a trailer home crashing down to Earth. My question is why haven’t I heard more coverage of this. It’s extremely rare that a meteor actually is able to break through the earths atmoshphere, and I’m thinking back to when the Haillebop comet was passing by Earth I couldnt find a a news source not covering that story. I think this is of the same magnitude….I’m thinking governement coverup.

Olympics CHICAGO 2016: GD’s vs. Al-Qaeda

Posted in: Uncategorized by hiphopdemocrat on November 24, 2008

As a proud Chicagoan I must say that it is exciting knowing that we could be host to the 2016 Olympic games. On the other hand it seems kinda frightening too. I just want to analyze this full situation because I’m kind of on the fence.

Hip Hop’s Official Representative in Government

Posted in: Hip Hop,Political,You Decide by hiphopdemocrat on November 23, 2008

russell-barackWith the inevitable notion that Obama’s presidency will have an affect on Urban communities, I think an important issue has yet to be addressed politically. That is the role Hip Hop will play in the revitalizing of our urban communities through the political agenda. Most importantly how will Obama’s influence meet with the influence hip hop/rap already has within those communities. Or whether or not they will even be able to work together.

Chicago Love

Posted in: Fashion,Hip Hop,Music by PrinceAkeem on November 21, 2008

Today I am visiting a few of my favorite stores in Chicago like Leaders 1354 and Saint Alfreds, just to name a few. These places are well known nationally for the style they bring and the music they promote out to the masses. They have Chicago Artists and Music Artists to model the Clothing that comes through there stores. I call this Chicago Love, because not only are these artists modeling but they are performing at the numerous parties thrown by these different clothing stores and getting BIG PROMO around the country.
The stores i mentioned are all located on Milwaukee street in Logan Square where they seem to be the bloodline of style and music throughout those parts. Other stores like Self-Conscious, Phli, Succezzz, and Jugrnaut may not be in the same area but they are definatley on the same accord.

Al-Qaeda’s #2: Obama is a “House Negro”

Posted in: Funny,Obama,Political by hiphopdemocrat on November 19, 2008

Wow……I had to address this, hopefully they’ll feature this response on Al-Jazeera. Who do these cave-livin, rocket launcher holdin, self explodin, heathens think they are? Are they really playin the race card? Just when I thought blowin up yourself to get 72 virgins was a low point, I have to add Racists to the list of things I DON’T like about Al-Qaeda. Callin Obama a “Step N’ Fetch” I personally think there upset because now that we have a REAL president somebody might actually take them out of play for good…..This isnt the Bush administration….

Their No. 2 in charge who goes by the name Ayman al-Zawahiri made the remarks and  according to USA Today, the white house responded by saying:

According to SOHH.com T.I. is prepared to testify in court against the alleged murderer of his best friend and body guard Philant Johnson aka “Big Phil” who was shot and killed last year after a performance in Cincinnati. Since the incident T.I. has been doing a lot of anti-violence and crime awareness gigs.

gay is the new black_iw I’m really baffled by the fact the media and everybody else for that matter keep throwin’ black people in this debate over the right of gay marriage. I do agree with the fact that it is a matter of civil right and equality, but I wouldn’t go as far as to say half the things that have been said regarding this issue recently. I’ll touch on two points.

This upcoming November 18th is the 30th anniversary of one of the most grim days in history. The anniversary of the Jonestown massacres, over 900 people died that day, many of them black.  The greatest single loss of American civilian life in a non-natural disaster until the incidents of the tragic day of September 11th, 2001. Jonestown was founded by Jim Jones the leader of the The Peoples Temple. The “Conspiracy Theory” is that the whole Jonestown experience was a mind experiment for inner-city or black communities, but that’s another post all together.Thejones
