Freddie Gibbs Drops Soulful Gil Scott-Heron Cover, Winter in America

Freddie Gibbs has been on a real roll lately. From dropping two of the top albums of the last decade. Starting with 2019’s Madlib-produced masterpiece, Bandana. To dropping last year’s Grammy nominated-Alfredo with The Alchemist. As well as hitting up Texas recently for the Joe Rogan podcast. It doesn’t appear he will be slowing down anytime soon either.

As yesterday Gibbs surprised his fans with the release of his very soulful and interesting rendition/cover of Gil Scott-Heron’s classic, Winter in America. That’s taken off The Undefeated (ESPN) and Hollywood Records just released new EP, Black History Always: Music For The Movement Vol. 2. A project that features new versions of historically significant records and features an original song from Brent Faiyaz. With Tobe Nwigwe covering Harold & The Bluenotes’, Wake Up Everybody, and Tinashe releasing her own rendition of Chaka Khan’s classic and timeless, I’m Every Woman. That many may remember the late great Whitney Houston even covering with her very own amazingly great and classic rendition years ago as well.
