Chuck D is easily among the most respected, important and influential music artists of all-time. That has never been shy to voice his opinion on important matters. Whether good or bad, from social justices and injustices to even the President and other government/political issues. The Public Enemy frontman has always used his voice and mic to rap/speak about those issues throughout the group’s 15 albums. That includes last year’s just right for the times latest PE album, What You Gonna Do When the Grid Goes Down?
The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer has also always been one to voice his opinions on the Sports teams and players he grew up rooting for. That includes the New York Mets of his hometown of Queens he grew up in. Not only a Mets, but lifelong baseball fan. Chuck grew up particularly obsessed with baseball cards. Among other things.
So Chuck decided to channel that nostalgic love of baseball he had growing up. By yesterday on Martin Luther King Day teaming up with MLB Network to release a new song he performed and produced. Titled, It’s So Hard to See My Baseball Cards Move On. It’s a song saluting and memorializing all the MLB players and baseball players/figures lost in 2020. Chuck himself also appearing on MLB Network yesterday for MLK Day to discuss social justice in baseball and about the new song.
