Conway The Machine & Method Man Squeeze Out Lyrical Rawness, On New Single, Lemon

Conway the Machine’s major label debut with Shady Records, God Don’t Make Mistakes, is easily one of the most anticipated albums of the year. Even with Conway already dropping two collaborative EP’s in the Alchemist helmed, LULU. As well as the Big Ghost LTD-assisted, No One Mourns the Wicked. The Griselda Records emcee, who has already had a pretty big 2020 and first year of the new decade. Just like his Griselda label/crewmates Westside Gunn and Benny the Butcher. Doesn’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon.

Conway most recently saying he would release a new album, From King to a GOD. As an appetizer of sorts to his Shady Records debut. While today we get the official announcement of the album’s release date of Sept.11th, along with the tracklisting and features, as well as production. Features ranging from of course his label/crewmates Gunn and Benny. To Freddie Gibbs, Method Man, Havoc, Lloyd Banks, and Dej Loaf. To production from of course Alchemist and Daringer, as well as Erick Sermon and Hit-Boy.

“Typically, when I create an album, I tend to focus on being the best rapper and having the best bars. With From King to a GOD, I wanted to show growth; how much I’ve grown as an artist and how much I’ve grown as a man” Conway said in a statement.  “I wanted to showcase versatility and show people that I’m not a one trick pony. I feel like this album is not only arguably one of my best albums ever, but it is also the perfect appetizer to get my fans ready for my Shady Records debut God Don’t Make Mistakes.”

As if the official release date announcement and tracklist reveal weren’t enough. Conway also today released his newest single, Lemon featuring living legend and icon, Method Man. A very grimey and raw new Daringer and Beat Butcha-produced track. That sees The Machine and the Iron Lung spitting nothing but raw lyrical heat over the haunting keys and organ samples of the spooky Daringer and Beat Bucha-produced backdrop.

Meth with a possible verse of the year candidate. With quotable’s such as, “Capone-N-Noreaga watchin’ CNN. Black whip, black tint, y’all ain’t seein’ in. It’s Con and Meth, spread the word, boy, you seein’ ’em. No seein’ ’em, these rappers in the scope, you never seein’ ’em.”. As well as, “People said they want that old Meth, well, this the prequel then. I get medieval, some people won’t make the prequel then (Ah). Leave ’em in the fetal position, F it, I’m leavin’ ’em. I use the system, you cowards use euphemisms.” Showing why even after nearly 30 years in the game, he’s still among the best to ever do it.

Conway himself also feeling it’s a possible verse of the year candidate. Having the following to say in a statement about the new single, “I just felt like the streets needed some grimy shit to end the summer off the right way. The whole Wu are like big brothers and working with them is the shit I used to wish for. I knew a Daringer beat would be perfect for Meth, and he blessed “Lemon” with a verse of the year candidate in my opinion.”
