New Artist Spotlight – Alex Banin with Nightmare

A perfect nightmare of talent, sweet and mesmerizing vocals.  To go with great songwriting ability that leaves you in a good mood and wanting more.  That’s how you can best describe rising great singer and songwriter, Alex Banin.  A fellow Chicago native, who me and the rest of the team here at TheHipHopDemocrat our highlighting as our very first artist in the new year and decade in our always very popular New Artist Spotlight feature.

First brought to our attention with her very soulfully sweet and mesmerizing vocals on her Loop Theory Inc. labelmate, Brittney Carter’s Side A single, Back Then, of her double-sided single, Back Then/The Signs, back in November of last year.  Banin is now stepping out for one of the first times on her own as a solo artist with her amazing new Vlush-produced single, Nightmare.

A record that shows despite its title, the rising new Chicago singer, is a very talented artist that has such nightmarishly sweet and mesmerizing infectious vocals.  That are somewhat reminiscent of the late great Amy Winehouse and other great Neo-Soul artists of yesteryear.  The very experimental and lush Vlush backed production perfect to really let Banin’s very infectiously sweet vocals and nightmarishly good lyrics have you singing along like there is no tomorrow.  The Chicago singer and songwriter showing she really has the memorable sweet mesmerizing vocals and songwriting ability of many great Neo-Soul artists of the past that can have her around for several years and decades to come.  The only question being will she be more of a hook/chorus singer or be able to put out great solo material from several albums and/or EP’s as well.
