Beyoncé Channels, Spirit, Of, The Lion King On Powerful New Single

Set to play Nala in the upcoming highly-anticipated live-action adaptation of Disney’s classic animated film, The Lion King, Beyoncé unleashes the spirit of the lion on her powerful new single, Spirit.  A very powerful and uplifting record, it’s not only original new music from the mega global Pop superstar and entertainer set to appear in the movie, but also on the just recently new announced Beyoncé curated album, The Lion King: The Gift album.

An album that’s not really a new Beyoncé album, but a musical ode to the Disney’s new live-action, The Lion King, feature film that she executive produced and curated.  The powerfully uplifting new anthem was written for the film by IIya Salmanzadeh, Timothy McKenzie and Beyoncé, and is produced by Beyoncé, IIya, and Labrinth.  Appearing in the film during a pivotal scene with Beyoncé’s classic character, Nala.  It appears on the Walt Disney Records original motion picture soundtrack, as well as the already aforementioned new, The Lion King: The Gift album.  The latter set to be released through Queen Bey’s own Parkwood Entertainment/Columbia Records.

Set to be released the same day as the highly-anticipated new film on July 19th, it has some of her favorite artists with the most talented and important African artists of the day to both pay tribute to the iconic film and bring the authentic sounds of African music to the world.

“This is sonic cinema,” said Beyoncé in a statement about the new record.  “This is a new experience of storytelling.  I wanted to do more than find a collection of songs that were inspired by the film.  It is a mixture of genres and collaboration that isn’t one sound.  It is influenced by everything from R&B, pop, hip hop and Afro Beat.”

Also adding, “I wanted to put everyone on their own journey to link the storyline.  Each song was written to reflect the film’s storytelling that gives the listener a chance to imagine their own imagery, while listening to a new contemporary interpretation.  It was important that the music was not only performed by the most interesting and talented artists but also produced by the best African producers.  Authenticity and heart were important to me.”

You can listen to the very powerfully inspiring and uplifting new anthem below.  As well as look forward to the other new material set to drop next week along with the very highly-anticipated new film.
