Jennifer Lopez Shows How You Rock A Performance, Brings Out Ja Rule, Before Accepting VMA Video Vanguard

Nearly twenty years after making her VMA debut, the living legend, iconic entertainer and true triple-threat, Jennifer Lopez, took the stage Monday night at the just as iconic, Radio City Music Hall in her hometown of New York City for the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards.

Performing a career-spanning medley of some of her greatest and most iconic hits to date, the pioneering Latin Pop superstar, showed why she’s so truly deserving of the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award.  Showing off her amazing dance moves throughout, JLo donning a flowing Versace outfit, kicked things off with her 1999 hit, Waiting for Tonight and another club-ready hit, On The Floor.

She would then strip down to a shimmering golden bodysuit before knocking out a killer dance routine of some of her biggest hits in Dance Again, Love Don’t Cost A Thing and Get Right.  Paying homage to her hometown of New York City, the Bronx native would shout out New York several times and even break out through a LED brick wall that had the number six on it like the front of a 6 train to perform, Jenny From The Block.

JLo wasn’t on her own though, as her longtime collaborator, friend and fellow New York native, Ja Rule, would join the hitmaker for quick renditions of, I’m Real and Ain’t That Funny.  The whole crowd singing and rapping along, as well as dancing along throughout, as well as those including myself, watching on TV, it brought back several great memories listening to Lopez’s amazing hits and watching her just as amazingly iconic videos and dance moves throughout the years, which shaped so many of our lives growing up.

Becoming the first Latin to win the award, JLo’s performance really truly showed how much she’s not only grown over the years, but is so truly deserving of the award.  Which she accepted after her very absolutely amazing performance with a truly impassioned and powerfully moving acceptance speech in which she thanked everyone from family, friends, boyfriend, Alex Rodriguez and of course all of her fans.  You could feel all the love for JLo evoked throughout all of Radio City Music Hall, the city of New York and all the fans watching across the globe.
