Eric B. & Rakim Set To Hit Chicago’s Patio Theater For Current, Can’t Miss Reunion Tour

Eric B. and Rakim are arguably the greatest Hip-Hop duo of all-time. Coming up in what many consider the “Golden Era of Hip-Hop” in the late 80’s they released their groundbreaking debut album, Paid In Full, in 1987.

Lead by lead single, Eric B. Is President, it would spawn five singles and put them on the map as the premier most universally known DJ/MC duo in all of Hip-Hop and the most influential DJ/MC combo of all-time. With Paid In Full highly regarded as not only arguably the greatest Hip-Hop album of all-time, but one of the best albums of all-time period, Rakim made a higher standard of lyricism the high bench mark for the genre that many rappers later followed and a lot still do till this day. His lyrical influence seen from the likes of fellow legendary New York emcees as Nas, Jay-Z, and Wu-Tang Clan, as well as current emcees like Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, Royce Da 5’9”, Twista and Common to name a few.

It wasn’t only Rakim’s lyrical influence, but Eric B.’s heavy sampling in the production that later became a high standard for the heavy sampling in a lot of Hip-Hop production that followed from the likes of DJ Premier, RZA, Dr. Dre, DJ Quik and Kanye West to name a few.

After several years of not being on speaking terms, the duo reunited last year at the legendary Apollo Theater in their hometown of New York for the 30th Anniversary of the groundbreaking album on the actual day it dropped July 7th.

The duo later deciding to do an actual 30th Anniversary, The Technique Tour they’re currently on, which is set to hit Chicago’s Patio Theater next Thursday, May 10th for what’s one of the most anticipated shows of not only the Spring, but probably whole year for so many. As this maybe one of the only chances many ever get to see the duo together live. Since this is also the first time they’ve toured together in 20 years.

If you’re a fan of that golden era Hip-Hop with dope lyrics and production, this is definitely a must not miss show from one of the greatest Hip-Hop acts of all-time.
