Early this morning the nominations for the upcoming 2017 BET Awards were announced by the network and just as expected global pop icon Beyoncé lead the nominations with seven. Also big among Beyoncé’s seven nominations is Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, Best Collaboration (for Freedom with Kendrick Lamar) and Video of the Year (for Sorry). Bruno Mars followed closely behind with five nominations, Chance the Rapper, (Bey’s sister) – Solange and Migos tied with four. Mars and Solange going up against Beyoncé for two of the night’s biggest awards in Album and Video of the Year. While sisters Bey and Solange will also be going up against one another for Best Female R&B/Pop Artist.
Now in its 17th year, the awards ceremony which celebrates black excellence in not only music, but also film, TV, sports and philanthropy will air live June 25th from Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater at 8 p.m. Eastern time.
