New Alessia Cara – How Far I’ll Go

Alessia Cara has had a quietly pretty big 2016, whether it be the success of her chart-topping singles, her amazing performances on both tour and TV, from Jimmy Kimmel Live! to Lollapalooza.  The latter which I wrote about here and the very talented young Canadian singer/songwriter looks to continue that streak with her Lin-Manuel Miranda-penned latest single, How Far I’ll Go.  The perfect followup to her empowering anthem, Scars to Your Beautiful, this latest record, which was released late last night by Disney, is another empowering anthem.  Taken from the upcoming Disney animated film, Moana, which is set to be released next month, Alessia with her powerful vocals on the bouncy, uplifting tune sings about overcoming obstacles to reach a goal or in the case of Moana, a young girl setting out on a journey to a fabled island to save her people.  Singing, “See the line where the sky meets the sea? It call me. And no one knows how far it goes.. If the wind on my sail on the sea stands behind me.. One day I’ll know, if I go there’s just no telling how far I’ll go.”  Alessia’s version which you can hear below, will be played in the end credits with another version from the voice of Moana, Auli’i Cravalho being played during the movie and both being on the soundtrack to the film.
