Drake and Beyoncé Lead 2016 Soul Train Awards Nominations

Hard to believe, but it’s nearly that time of year again for some peace, love and soullll!  With the Soul Train Awards set to be coming again soon with the 2016 Soul Train Awards set to be taped at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas at the beginning of next month on November 6th and air on CENTRIC and BET on Nov. 27th at 8pm ET, the nominees were announced earlier today by CENTRIC.

The complete list of all-star nominees across 12 different categories is lead by Drake with 12 total nominations, which includes two for the highly coveted “Video of the Year Award” for his mega hit, Hotline Bling and his feature on Rihanna’s chart-topping and record-breaking single, Work.  Pop/R&B worldwide sensation Beyoncé, who has had a huge year thanks in large part to her critically acclaimed latest album, LEMONADE and it’s accompanying visual mini-movie, followed with 8 nominations.  One of the nominations being for said album being up for “Album/Mixtape of the Year.”  The queen Bey also had multiple nominations for it’s lead single, Formation.

Rihanna, Usher, Kanye West and DJ Khaled also received multiple nominations this year, which included Video of the Year, Album/Mixtape of the Year and Best Collaboration.  Highly touted next generation of Soul artists Bryson Tiller, Chance the Rapper and Anderson .Paak are also being recognized with multi-nominees.

Multi-platinum and three-time Grammy Award-winning producer, songwriter, artist and musician Teddy Riley, also known as the creator of New Jack Swing, is also set to receive the coveted Legend Award, while singer and actress Brandy is set to receive the second annual, Lady of Soul Award.

It was also confirmed by CENTRIC that the godmother of soul, Erykah Badu, will return to host the show for a second straight year.
