Samsung Antes Up Lollapalooza’s 25th Anniversary with Virtual Reality

Samsung announced in a press release the other day it’s returning to Lollapalooza for yet another year of new, immersive experiences for festival-goers, which will amplify and up the ante for music fans by bringing a host of what they are calling, “new, immersive experiences grounded in virtual reality (VR), fun games, giveaways and more throughout the 4-day weekend.”

Like in years past Samsung will be hosting one of the main stages, which will feature some of the festival’s hottest headliners from Radiohead to Red Hot Chili Peppers and J. Cole over the 4-day weekend.  They will also be bringing back their ever popular The Galaxy Lounge, which is the ultimate VIP experience for Galaxy owners that gives an unforgettable view of the Samsung Stage and also features a series of surprise appearances, pop-up performances and meet & greets with the latest Samsung technology at the core of your experience in the lounge.

The biggest new feature that Samsung is bringing for the 25th anniversary of Lollapalooza and the 4-day weekend though is their VR-Palooza.  Which is a new, “interactive and entertaining VR experience” that Samsung is introducing that allows people who are at the festival a more deeper experience of the Samsung Stage using the Samsung Gear VR by allowing them to livestream musical performances.  This Samsung Gear VR will also allow an all-new 360-degree experience, including 4D VR surfing, skateboarding and hot air ballooning.

The Samsung Gear 360 camera will also be offered in limited quantity for the first time at a festival throughout the whole 4-day festival.  With it being exclusively on-site at Lollapalooza for $349.99, so you can start enjoying taking 360 degree videos throughout the whole weekend.

Samsung Electronics America chief marketing officer, Marc Mathieu seemed real excited about the experience and opportunity they are allowing for fans at Lollapalooza too saying, “Lollapalooza is an excellent opportunity for us to connect fans to their favorite music using our mobile and VR technology.  We are thrilled to partner with the festival in this unique way, delivering new possibilities in content creation and content consumption through Samsung products, and allowing fans to have a deeper connection to our brand.”

So be sure if you are in Chicago at Lollapalooza over this weekend to check out all the great stuff Samsung has to offer, including what’s sure to be one of the hottest experiences of the weekend with their VR-Palooza.
