New Prince & 3rdEyeGirl – U Know

Pop-Rock icon and musician Prince has been known over the years to really shy away and have his qualms against the Internet, but with his two new albums, Art Official Age and Plectrum Electrum, set to drop at the end of the month, it looks like, The Purple One, has finally let his guard down a little to somewhat imbrace it. As after dropping his latest single, Clouds, last week, his Purple Majesty dropped a new record for a second Monday in a row through his rarely used Twitter page (which he has more recently started using a little more) with, U Know, which will be on the solo of the two albums (Art Official Age). The new single is a classic futuristic funky slow jam from Prince, which over the electro-funked up riffs and keys finds Mr. Rogers joined by his group 3rdEyeGirl giving us a very playful groovy passionate record about a love he wants and can’t let go. It’s a record that’s classic Prince too, as it finds him starting off with the slowed up digi-drawls for his verses, before picking up steam and soul before his sexy, smooth and sultry falsetto kicks in all the right places. Overall some of the classic futuristic R&B mixed with Funk, Soul and Pop we have all come to know and love from the legend that’s made him such an icon in music. With how great this and Clouds has built the buzz for Prince’s new solo album it has many of us lifelong fans of his really looking that much more forward to his first solo album in four years, Art Official Age, which is set to drop at the end of the month on Sept. 30th. Also a fun fact about, U Know, is that it samples buzzing Los Angeles singer/songwriter and rapper, Mila J’s record, Blinded. Which must be surreal for her after being in Prince’s “Diamonds and Pearls” video when she was a little girl and now to not only be dropping her debut retail release on the same date as when he drops his two new albums, but have a record of hers sampled by one of her biggest musical influences. Now it will be only right for Prince to get Mila on the remix if he ever has one for “U Know.”
