New Jhené Aiko – The Pressure

With an already big 2014 that just seems to keep getting bigger and better by the month, from her appearing on Saturday Night Live with Drake at the beginning of the year to her still riding the success of her Sail Out EP from last fall and the huge Billboard charts success of it’s third single, The Worst, to her recent announcement of her long-awaited and highly anticipated debut album, Souled Out dropping on August 25th it has been a huge year for ARTium Records/Def Jam artist Jhené Aiko. So it should be no surprise that Aiko yesterday decided to capitalize off said announcement by dropping her latest single from the album with the really soulful and smooth The Fisticuffs-produced The Pressure. Another breath of fresh air song that really shows off Jhené’s smooth signature tone and sensual vocals with a nice melody we have grown accustomed to from her, the record has the L.A. songstress speaking of the pressure’s of trying to keep a relationship over the airy, smooth guitar riffs and ambient synths, as well as nice ambient percussion of the great smooth production we have come to expect with her and frequent collaborator, The Fistcuffs. The record really shows too that despite it getting closer and closer to the release of her album Souled Out, Ms. Aiko definitely doesn’t feel any pressure and will continue to have a huge breakout year in 2014. A year in which many will remember it as breakout year for the very talented Los Angeles native for years to come.
