The Next Path To Hip Hop Relevance?

Without question we know the people can’t get enough singing competitions. The networks steady string of musical face offs have become a staple of “reality” entertainment. Now the Hood to Hood series partnered media force Interactive One are looking to bring such a national talent search into our homes for the love of Hip Hop (not to be confused with Love & Hip Hop) with America’s Next Hip-Hop Superstar.

The final calls will be made by an experienced judging panel filled with influential hip-hop experts;Charles “Ten” Gibbs, Datwon Thomas (Executive
Editor of VIBE Magazine) Simone “Boss Lady” Amelia (Radio Personality, Hip-Hop
Nation/Lifestyle Manager, DR. Jays’s LIVE), Jerry Barrow (Senior Editor, The Urban
Daily), Tony Martinez (President of Americana Group).

This fall, starting in Philadelphia we’ll be taken around the U.S to the respective hometowns of various MC’s as they look to earn their way into the game. We’ve seen Diddy attempt to make the band and 106 & Park gives us a weekly freestyle Friday to showcase talent. I think a far more comprehensive and ground level approach is needed to truly capture the grind of these hungry talents. Hood to Hood looks like they are on the right path.
