At this point, very little surprises me. This nation is on full extreme tilt with little no censorship or restraint towards the sensitive areas of a given subject. As long as the Nets are allowing Jay-Z to call their marketing shots — what a shock that he chose black and white as the new team colors to stress, as the Nets explained, their new “urban” home — why not have him apply the full Jay-Z treatment?
Why the Brooklyn Nets when they can be the New York N——s? The cheerleaders could be the Brooklyn B—-hes or Hoes. Team logo? A 9 mm with hollow-tip shell casings strewn beneath. Wanna be Jay-Z hip? Then go all the way!
So how do we view this? Is this just another of many generalized, misdirected pot shots at the hip hop culture? Is this the rantings of a racist white man deeply distraught at the idea that some “negro” is in a position of power over such lucrative a business? Who knows. The events that follow are pretty predicable. There will be apologies and disciplinary actions taken as the negative buzz spreads virally from these words. But even so the damage has been already. Just another reminder to the “urban” masses of America as to how we are viewed by many. Its nothing new…they may not run around with torches and hoods any more but the mentality is still here and apparently there are no shortage of events to confirm that it’s not going anywhere any time soon.
These people hide behind keyboards to lash out and strike with force that they would not dare release within arm’s reach of there intended targets. Digital cowardice at it’s finest. Unfortantely a fool like Phil gets pay for it too. How’s that for justice?
