Drake Says No Lil Wayne Joint Album, Joint Mixtape With Rick Ross In The Works

Earlier this year Drizzy revealed that  a joint album was in the works with Lil Wayne. Now Drake tells XXL that he and Weezy have decided to cancel the project due to comparisons to the Jay-Z & Kanye’s ‘Watch The Throne’ album.

Me and Wayne scrapped the idea of a collaboration album. We just agreed that it would be looked upon as…It would be sort of this competition [with Watch The Throne]. I feel like it would get caught in this whirlwind of hype. [Wayne] agreed. We just said, ‘If we do it, we’ll do it down the line. But right now is not the time.’

In related news Drizzy and Rozay plan on taking their many collaborations a step  further with a mixtape. Drake also told XXL,

“I have been working on a mixtape with Ross,” Drake said. “A mixtape called Y.O.L.O. [That means] ‘You Only Live Once’. I’ve been working on that for the last couple of weeks. We haven’t really connected because he’s been going through this thing with his health. I’ve been stashing my little beats and verses.”

Drake’s Take Care 9which leaked this week) hits stores and online November 15
